Long Term Follow-Up of Tocilizumab in Refractory and Non-Infectious Uveitic Cystoid Macular Edema
Uveitis includes a large spectrum of inflammatory disorders characterized by intraocular inflammation. Most uveitis may complicate with cystoid macular edema (CME) and permanent blindness. CME is a swelling of the macula with fluid accumulation within the intracellular spaces of the retina, leading to the formation of cystic spaces [1]. According to anatomical location, panuveitis (36%-66%) and intermediate uveitis (40%- 60%) are the patterns most commonly associated with CME [2]. The immune mediated systemic diseases most related to CME are sarcoidosis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), Birdshot chorioretinopathy and Behçet disease [3-9].

Ocular trauma is one of the leading causes of visual impairment in adults [1]. The incidence of open globe injury (OGI) worldwide is between 2 to 6 cases per 100,000 people per year [2,3]. Visual outcomes range from 20/20 to no light perception.

Pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft using Tisseel glue; 6-year outcomes from a UK tertiary referral corneal unit
Pterygia are a fibrovascular growth of the bulbar conjunctiva, with the potential to extend onto the cornea [1]. The prevalence can vary from 1-15% depending on patient geographic location, with risk factors including ageing and exposure to UV light [1]. Surgical excision is typically indicated if there is irritation, inflammation, reduced vision, encroachment of the visual axis, increasing astigmatism or due to cosmesis [2].

Observations on nascent matrix structures in embryonic cornea: Important in cell interactions, or merely vestiges of the lens surface?
Here we present some new observations on early stages in chick corneal development obtained by re-mining of datasets obtained via serial block face scanning electron microscopy. We focus on matrix cords, proteoglycan-rich structures of apparent ectodermal origin, emerging from the epithelial basal lamina, which extend proximally into the growing collagenous matrix destined to become the corneal stroma.

Genetic mutations in the molecular pathogenesis of gastrointestinal stromal tumor
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are mesenchymal tumors which predominantly originate from the interstitial cells of Cajal in the intestinal lining. Around ~85% of malignant GISTs possess activating mutations in the tyrosine kinase receptors KIT or PDGFRA. The driver mutations in genes other than KIT or PDGFRA account for around 15% GISTs and belong to highly heterogeneous groups called wild-type GISTs. Around 20–40% of WT-GISTS are deficient for the succinate dehydrogenase complex (SDHA, SDHB, SDHC, SDHD).

Prenatal phenotype-genotype discordance allows for earlier identification of disorders of sexual development
Disorders of sexual development (DSD) are a spectrum of conditions characterized by abnormal chromosomal, gonadal or phenotypic sex, leading to atypical development of the urogenital tract [1]. Recently, Snipes et al. presented a case of a 46 XY DSD patient whose condition was caused by a rare genetic mutation, identified by a workup initiated after discovering a discrepancy between the genetic sex on the Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) and the phenotypic sex on the 20-week ultrasound (US) [2].
Effect of senescence on behavior of mesenchymal stromal/stem cells
During lifespan the homeostasis and repair of organs and tissues are guaranteed by the adult stem cell population. Among them, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), which contain a subpopulation of multipotent stem cells, are emerging as promising candidates for cell therapy of numerous diseases. MSCs are non-hematopoietic cells capable of self-renewal and differentiation into osteocytes, adipocytes, and chondrocytes.

This systematic review provides an update on recent developments in the field of CVDs, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosis and management, advances in genetic testing and precision medicine, the role of telemedicine and remote monitoring technologies, novel therapies such as gene therapy and cell therapy, and the importance of addressing mental health in the prevention and management of CVDs.

Within the last ten years, there has been a growing body of data on the potential of neurotransmitter blockers as promising components of comprehensive cancer treatment. Neurotransmitters play an important role in the intercellular communication of the various tumor cells: malignant epithelial cells, myofibroblasts, tumor-associated macrophages, stromal cells, and endothelial cells of the tumor vasculature. In particular, they are responsible for the cells’ resistance to chemotherapy.

Report of an Iranian child with developmental motor delay and renal and hepatic complications diagnosed as a Glycogen storage disease type 1a: A case report
Background: Glycogen storage disease type 1a (GSD-1a) is the most common form of GSDs, accounting for 80% of these cases. Here we present a 16-month-old boy being treated for GSD-1a at our clinic. Case presentation: Given that the patient was not examined and diagnosed prior to referral to our clinic, mitochondrial disease due to developmental delay, high lactate levels, and lack of hypoglycemia was treated first.
Late-onset panuveitis in a Chinese girl with sporadic Blau syndrome: A case report
We present a case of late-onset eye manifestations in a Chinese girl of 18 years old with sporadic BS, presenting only mild eye inflammation. We performed comprehensive ocular examinations including fluorescein fundus angiography (FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICG) for her. The oral hormone plus local anti-inflammatory eye drops have well controlled the inflammation of her eyes.
Chemical characterization of red imported fire ants with colony development
The red imported fire ant, Solenopsis invicta Buren, poses a significant threat to public health due to its venomous stings. While the chemistry of fire ants has been well investigated, most studies have focused on ants from mature colonies. The dynamic changes in chemical compositions during colony development have been less explored. In this study, we established S. invicta colonies using newly collected queens from the field and then tracked the chemistry of workers as the colonies developed. Our findings reveal that the chemistry of fire ant workers undergoes significant changes with the development of the colonies. However, the change in chemical diversity was not necessarily in the same direction for all individual glands.
Blinding uveitis induced by secukinumab: A case-based review
Secukinumab, a human monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-17A (IL-17A), is widely used for treating immunoinflammatory disorders. While effective, drug-induced uveitis (DIU) is a rare but serious adverse effect associated with biologic medications like TNF-α inhibitors and more recently, IL-17 inhibitors such as secukinumab. We present a case of posterior uveitis in a 42-year-old male with AS who developed ocular symptoms two years after starting secukinumab.
