Ming Shen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Nanjing Agricultural University. He earned his Ph.D. in 2014 and led more than ten national and provincial projects. His research on reproductive and metabolic regulation produced numerous first/corresponding-author articles in leading journals such as Autophagy, Development (2), Nucleic Acids Research, Advanced Science, Redox Biology, Journal of Biological Chemistry (2), FASEB Journal (2), and Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle. He has seven papers with IF>10 (highest IF 16.8); his most-cited work exceeds 200 citations. Dr. Shen is Guest Editor for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology and Genes, serves on the editorial boards of Scientific Reports, Animal Advances (Youth EB), and World Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and reviews for 40+ SCI journals. He is a member of the Society for Reproduction and Fertility, the Endocrine Society, and the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. Honors include national research awards, Binjiang Cornerstone talent award, ScholarGPS recognition, and notably contributed to the Autophagy guidelines (4th ed., 2021).
I am now doing research on the regulatory mechanisms of follicular development in mammalian ovary. My research focus is on the following aspects: (1) Molecular effectors responded to oxidative stress in ovarian follicles; (2) Local ovarian factors involved in maintaining the redox balance within ovarian follicles; (3) Antioxidants that improve animal reproduction performance; (4) Decision of follicular developmental fate under hypoxic conditions; (5) The bidirectional communication between oocytes and granulosa cells during follicular development; (6) Epigenetic mechanisms and their roles in ovarian development and function.
