I’m Dr. Farid Sroor. My career started by earning M.Sc. in organic chemistry in 2006 from El-Minia University in cooperation with Cairo University followed by Ph.D. in organolanthanide chemistry, from the University of Magdeburg, Germany in 2015 under supervision of Prof. Frank Edelmann as fellow of the German-Egyptian Long-Term Scholarship (GERLS) of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch-Dienst). In 2016-2017, I joined the lab of Prof. Michel Etienne, in Toulouse, France as a postdoctoral fellowship from the Embassy of France in Egypt – Institut Fancais d'Egypte (IFE).
My research interests primarily involve the design and synthesis of new ligands which will modify the properties of metal ions to allow the stabilization of uncommon oxidation states or coordination geometries. I am focus on preparation of new catalysts (organometallic compounds) and its catalytic activity in organic chemistry (C-H, C-C and C-X bonds formation). On the other hand the present research in our lab interests in the development of environmentally benign and economically sound processes of importance to organic synthesis. This combines techniques of organic and organometallic chemistry synthesis for the development of more efficient catalytic trans-formations
