The central task is to guide this change in a way that preserves the core purpose of diagnosis: to support individuals in understanding and managing their mental health. If this balance can be achieved, the future of mental health diagnosis will move beyond rigid classification toward a more nuanced and humane understanding of the mind, one that recognizes both the complexity of human experience and the need for clear, effective care.
