A commentary on patient and caregiver perceptions of home blood transfusions in the United States

Patients with transfusion dependent cytopenias from their hematologic malignancies experience a high burden of care. They often visit the cancer center 2-3 times a week for Complete blood count (CBC) checks and possible transfusions – spending hours of their day traveling for and receiving care. Home blood transfusions, while available in other countries, have not been well established in the United States (US).

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a common inherited metabolic disorder characterized by abnormally high blood levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Depending on the mode of inheritance, FH is mainly divided into two subtypes: heterozygous FH (HeFH) and heterozygous FH (HoFH).

New indications for nailfold videocapillaroscopy in the assessment and diagnosis of rheumatic diseases

Periungual capillaroscopy is a technique that allows the study of the microcirculation of the periungual beds in a non-invasive and simple way, allowing the papillary dermis to be visualized in vivo. It is one of the fundamental diagnostic tests in clinical practice and teaching in rheumatology today.The basic patterns in capillaroscopy are determined by the structure and architecture of the nail bed, capillary density, the presence of avascular areas, capillary morphology and vascular flow.

T cell engagers targeting CD19 to treat B cell malignancies, and beyond

In the past decade, a tremendous progress has been made in developing T cell engaging bi-specific antibodies (BsAbs) targeting CD19 to treat B cell malignancies. We report a rare case of a 1-month-old patient with nonspecific symptoms, including failure to thrive and poor feeding, associated with lumbosacral ulcers.
